The Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation was thrilled to have had the support of Cancarb for their “Giving Hope for Mental Health” campaign. Throughout the month of May, Cancarb encouraged their staff to give towards the pediatric portion of the campaign and in return, they would match dollar for dollar with corporate funding. Combined there was just over $8,900 raised! The foundation would like to challenge other businesses large and small to engage in their own way.
Peter Donnelly president had this to say: “At Cancarb we believe it is important to support our community and the area in which we live and work. In particular, we are grateful for all of the efforts of the health care workers in our region. To that end, we are happy to have the opportunity to contribute to local organizations such as the Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation. In 2020 we made a donation to support the health care workers thru the COVID crisis. In this year’s case, many of our employees stepped up and made a personal donation, which Cancarb matched dollar-for-dollar for a designated mental health area for our youth in the hospital. This area will allow children in crisis to have a comfortable space. We all felt that this need to renovate the patient rooms for patient safety and well-being was something very important to do and that we are happy to support.”
“Giving Hope for Mental Health” will support the mental health area of MHRH, the Recovery Center, developing a designated pediatric area for children in crisis, and support of the AHS outreach programs. Their goal is to raise $500,000 this year. http://ourhealthfoundation.ca/givehope4mh/
