Raising funds, having fun!
Our Foundation Gift Shop, located on the second floor of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, sells snacks, gifts, and personal care items to patients and visitors. But it’s more than just an on-site store – all proceeds from sales go directly towards supporting our Foundation.
And that’s not all. The Gift Shop is run entirely by volunteers, kind-hearted people getting out into their community and making a difference. Working in the Gift Shop, you meet so many people every day. You can smile, laugh, and even help people at moments of stress or sadness.
Volunteering at the Gift Shop is more than sitting at a register – it’s connecting with a whole new world.

“I’ve been volunteering in the Health Foundation Gift Shop for three years. Over that time, it’s been common to hear things like ‘I love this Gift Shop’, ‘I always do my Christmas shopping here’, or ‘I find so many unique things here that I can’t find anywhere else.’
I’ve said these same things myself over the years and was the initial reason I applied to volunteer here.
I’ve always loved the hospital Gift Shop – not just for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, but for the unique and thoughtful gifts that bring joy to people during what can be a difficult time. Volunteering here feels like a natural fit for me because I get to be part of that comforting experience for others.
Whether someone is looking for a way to cheer up a loved one or just needs a quiet moment to browse, I enjoy helping them find something special. I believe small gestures can have a big impact, and I’m grateful to be part of a team that brings a little brightness into people’s days.
Volunteering at the Gift Shop has deepened my appreciation for the role kindness plays in healing and support.
